CGML has taken proactive steps in response to new regulation and industry and regulatory standards with respect to financial benchmarks.
Governance
Citigroup Global Markets Ltd (“CGML”), as an established index provider, affirms the importance of accuracy and integrity of benchmarks in the pricing of financial contracts and, more generally, financial markets. CGML is committed to operating its business and administering its benchmarks in accordance with applicable laws and regulations (including the European Benchmarks Regulation*) as well as applicable principles and guidelines and other relevant standards recommended and/or set by international industry bodies and regulators from time to time. * European Benchmarks Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/1011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 8 June 2016 on indices used as benchmarks in financial instruments and financial contracts or to measure the performance of investment funds and amending Directives 2008/48/EC and 2014/17/EU and Regulation (EU) No 596/2014 (as amended, the “Benchmarks Regulation"), as it forms part of the domestic law of the United Kingdom by virtue of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 and as amended pursuant to the Benchmarks (Amendment and Transitional Provision) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019.
